1. What is an “EAP?"
“EAP” is cheap an Employee Assistance Program, a benefit offered for you and your family members by your employer. This benefit provides counseling and other services at no cost to you, helping you address personal issues that may be influencing your behaviors and feelings at work.
2. How can the EAP help me?
Your EAP can ouelet provide counseling for what we call “problems of daily living” – circumstances that can affect any of us at one time or another. These include but are not limited to relationship issues, stress, burnout, anger, anxiety, grief, loss, financial issues, legal consultation, elder care, parenting and other issues.
3. Are my family members also eligible for the EAP benefit?
Yes. The EAP benefit is available to your spouse and other dependents.
4. Is there a cost for using the EAP?
No. The EAP benefit is totally free, with no co-pay or other charge at all to you and/or eligible family members.
5. What if I or a family member needs medication or other form of medical treatment?
Your EAP counselor can refer you to one of our medical staff for further evaluation to see if further help is needed such as medication for problems such as severe anxiety or major depression. . Visits with medical staff would be outside the EAP benefit but would be covered by major medical benefits.
6. How do I access the EAP?
It’s easy. Just call Access Wellness Group number: (859)309-0309 or 877 834-7836, identify yourself as an employee or family member of an employee of your company, and ask to make an appointment.
7. How many EAP sessions are included in this benefit?
Check the EAP brochure or other notices your employer makes available about this, such as the company’s web site, benefits description or other internal postings. If you’re still not sure, you can call us and we will tell you how many sessions you and your family members are eligible for.
8. What types of counselors are available at the EAP?
Our counselors include Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) and Psychologists. With this variety of training and educational backgrounds our therapists have the the ability to work with children and teenagers, adults, as well as couples and familiesSome of our staff have experiencing helping individuals and families dealing with the problem of addiction and co-dependency as well. All of our EAP counselors are licensed or certified and with the experience needed to give you the professional and compassionate care you need.
9. When are appointments available?
Appointment times are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.; on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; on Fridays 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
10. Will my employer know if I use the EAP?
Your EAP is confidential, as mandated by HIPAA and other regulations. These regulations stipulate very strict conditions about when your personal health information may be released to somebody else – such as with your written permission or because of a court order.
11. Do you provide any information to my employer?
We provide a regular report to the employer that includes only such numerical information as how many company employees and family members used the benefit, how many total sessions were used, etc. Individual EAP clients are never identified in such reports.
12. Your main office is in Lexington. What if I live or work somewhere else?
We can make arrangements for you to see an EAP counselor somewhere else. We see clients regularly in Frankfort, Berea and Richmond, for instance, but also tap into a broad network of counselors and therapists in other areas of Kentucky and beyond.
