Paul Oneill

Paul O’Neill, MSW, LCSW From Lexington, KY., I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 17 years of clinical experience working across settings with children, teenagers, and adults. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree and Masters in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. My Clinical experience includes seven and a half years as a Bereavement Counselor at Hospice of the Bluegrass, six and a half years as an Impact PLUS Clinician providing individual and collateral therapy with children, teens and adult family members, and over 2 years with Access Wellness Group. My interest in mental health came from my experience as a counselor at Life Adventure Camp in 1992. The “at risk” children and teens I worked with taught me about the suffering and distress they experience due to difficulty they have learning needed coping skills within the context of a problematic family system. This “person in environment” perspective became the foundation of my professional development in addressing internal and external factors to maximize and realize a person’s potential for change. I apply psycho-dynamic, cognitive behavioral, solution based therapy, strength based, as well as family dynamic and system based approaches.
